Here at The Holy Nail we love nails and seeing a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous. Where better to see the beauty of nails and what they can add to a look than the fashion event of the year? The 2022 Met Gala theme was "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," with the dress code being Gilded Glamour and White Tie. Guests were asked to "embody the grandeur—and perhaps the dichotomy—of Gilded Age New York," inspired by the late 19th century through a modern lens. This year we have seen some serious nail looks, many of which are press ons, to match the glamorous outfits as well as many of the male attendees finally sporting beautiful manis too! Let's take a look at some of our favourite nails of this year's Met Ball. CARDI B
Cardi B doesn't do things by halves and this year was no exception. She drips gold wearing this Versace dress made entirely of gold chains complete with Medusa medallions. Her nails by artist @marienailz are clearly made to match, she wears long sculpted stiletto in metallic gold with matching gold chains draped across and rhinestones. LIZZO
Lizzo wore an opulent gown designed by Thom Browne, a split black corset dress and golden embroidered coat. Her nails by artist Eri Ishizu were truly the star of the show however, sculpted into super long corkscrews with a black base, bedazzled with metallic gold chrome outer. She even managed to play the flute on the red carpet with those nails! CIARA
Ciara rocks this incredible Michael Kors sequinned zebra print dress but what really stands out to us is the chrome almond nails, they are just shining through and really make the look. SHAWN MENDES
This might just be our favourite Met nails look of the year! Shawn Mendes walked the red carpet in Tommy Hilfiger, turtle neck with maroon and navy popped collar coat and gold buttons, Tommy Hilfiger's classic colour combo. We love the attention to detail on his nails by artist Betina Goldstein, the recognisable Tommy Hilfiger pattern, matte to match the fabric and gold button detailing. BLAKE LIVELY
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds co-hosted this year's event with Blake paying homage to the architecture of the home of the Met Gala, New York City in her custom Versace gown. The gown was a sight to behold with a colour change right on the famous Met staircase. Nail Artist @enamelle created these midi almond duckegg nails for Blake surprisingly by customising a set of drug store press on nails. CYNTHIA ERIVO
Cynthia Erivio never fails to impress on the nail front and we are so obsessed with this nail look. She wears Louis Vuitton in a white lace dress that sweeps the floor with matching LV chest hand bag. Her nails are an 2 inch Ballerina style created by nail artist Gina Oh, gloss black with gold rococo style gems to created that Gilded Glamour look. JOE JONAS
Joe Jonas and pregnant wife Sophie Turner both wore Louis Vuitton on the red carpet. Joe donning a womenswear white tail jacket and lace top from the label's spring-summer 2022 collection. His natural nails are painted to match with a matte black base and gold chrome accent to match the buttoning on his jacket. VANESSA HUDGENS
This might be our favourite dress of this year's Met Gala, the sheer black Moschino gown included beautifully delicate lace which showed off her jewels. Her nails were a long sculpted stiletto in nude with a glittery gold peekaboo underside and dotted with a large gemstone at the tip of each nail. Created by @nailsbyzola. BEN PLATT
@nailsbyzola had quite the night on Monday! Styling Vanessa Hudgens, Ben Platt, Kendall Jenner, Sydney Sweeney, Hailey Bieber and Sabrina Carpenter's nails for the ball. The Pitch Perfect actor wore a corseted tuxedo and styled midi Square nail extensions in a milky nude dotted with pearls to match his custom Presley Oldham necklace. SYDNEY SWEENEY
Another win for @nailsbyzola with this press on nail set for Sydney Sweeney. The Euphoria actor wore a full length glamorous white gown with removable skirt for the big reveal on the famous staircase. She matched her outfit with a cute bedazzled mani which she notes that she designed herself. Sydney says "I have to have something for red carpets, so I design nails, I draw them out, and I send my ideas to Zola, who brings them to life for me. Then I just press them on. It's really fun."
